The people of the region continue to struggle against Zenit Mining, which wants to expand its mining activities within the boundaries of Örenli, Dağardı, Kavaklı and Evciler villages in Simav and Tavşanlı districts of Kütahya. Last year, the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization, which continued the EIA process, although the villagers did not allow the public participation meeting, will make the final decision regarding the project in the coming days.

The company, which carries out gold and silver mining activities in an area of ​​92.94 hectares, applied to the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization to increase its capacity to 668.85 hectares. Wanting to expand its operations on private lands, the company is still struggling to purchase citizens’ land. It was alleged that the villagers who did not want to sell their land were threatened by the company.

2 THOUSAND 500 TREES WILL BE CUT

According to the information in the EIA file, 2 thousand 556 trees will be cut within the scope of the mining activity that is intended to be expanded on agricultural and forestry lands.

The closest settlement to the mine to be operated by open pit and blasting method is Örencik Village, which is only 250 meters away.
