Erkam and Bulent Yildirim are the adult sons of Binali Yıldırım, Prime Minister of Turkey since May 2016. The Yildirim family made their fortune in the shipping industry. Erkam operates its own shipping company.

The Yildirim brothers are the sole shareholders of two companies registered in Malta. The first, Hawke Bay Marine Co. Ltd, was established in April 2004. Public records suggest the company owns or operates shipping vessels. The second, Black Eagle Marine Co. Ltd, was incorporated in January 2007. Records show that Erkam, which was the majority shareholder of the companies, is also a director of both. The companies were registered as active on the Malta Companies Registry in October 2017.

The Malta Files documents reveal that the family of Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim has assets of at least 140 million euros housed in tax havens, including eleven ships and seven Dutch properties. A wealth all the more suspect since it has been accumulated in just ten years.
