‘Akbelen’ letter from villagers to Minister Pakdemirli: Take back the license
In order to prevent the cutting of Akbelen forests, the people of İkizköy and environmentalists wrote a letter to Bekir Pakdemirli, the Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, calling for “take back the license”.

The people of İkizköy and environmentalists, who have been on guard duty to prevent the cutting of Akbelen forests for about a month and a half in the Milas district of Muğla, wrote a letter to the Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Bekir Pakdemirli, noting that the license permit for the Akbelen Forest should be withdrawn and said, “These licenses and permits should be reconsidered. It is necessary to protect the right to live and to take it back,” he said. Villagers made a call to Minister Pakdemirli to “Save the forests”.
Deniz Gümüşel, who made a statement on behalf of İkizköy Environment Platform, stated that approximately 1,600 people from thirty non-governmental organizations signed the letter.
The letter that Gümüşel stated that they would deliver to Minister Pakdemirli is as follows:

As it is known, with the consent dated 28.11.2020 given by you, it is located within the borders of Muğla, Milas, İkizköy, in the forest sections no. 136, 137 of the Milas Forestry Operations Directorate Kayadere Forestry Operation Chief, and in the forest section no. 135 of the Karacahisar Forestry Directorate’s and public opinion. Yeniköy Kemerköy Elektrik Üretim ve Ticaret A.Ş. in the forest area known as Akbelen Forest. Open mining permission has been granted on behalf of the mine. The lawsuit regarding the cancellation of the transaction continues with the case file of the Muğla 1st Administrative Court numbered 2021 /563 E.
By the way, as you know, the forest fires that have been going on since the beginning of August and cannot be prevented have destroyed a significant part of the forest assets of the region. On August 8, as if the forests were not destroyed by the fires and the fires were still not continuing, the men of Yeniköy Kemerköy Elektrik Üretim ve Ticaret A.Ş. started cutting trees.
